Can you replace a conservatory roof with a solid tiled roof?
Yes. We replace polycarbonate and glass conservatory roofs with lightweight, insulated tiled “warm” roofs, finished with a plastered ceiling inside. It turns a conservatory that’s unusable in extreme weather into a comfortable room you can use all year.
Does a new conservatory roof need Building Regulations approval?
Replacing a glazed roof with a solid, tiled one is a building alteration, so it’s carried out under Building Regulations and certified — we handle the notification. A like-for-like glass or polycarbonate replacement generally does not need approval.
Will a tiled roof be too heavy for my conservatory?
Modern warm-roof systems are engineered to be lightweight — often comparable to, or lighter than, the glass they replace. We check the existing frames, dwarf wall and base first to confirm they’ll take the load before we quote.
Why is my conservatory too hot in summer and cold in winter?
Old polycarbonate and single-glazed roofs have very little insulation, so the room overheats in the sun and loses heat fast in winter. A tiled warm roof, or modern solar-control glass, fixes the temperature swing.
Can you just repair my leaking conservatory roof?
