Fascias, Soffits & Guttering in York
Victorian terraces around Heworth and Fishergate often still carry their original deep timber trough gutters and bargeboards — where a trough has rotted we fit Twinplas, the twin-wall PVC box gutter made to replace timber troughing like-for-like without altering the roof edge — while Acomb's interwar semis tend to hide rot beneath decades of gloss paint. We renew rooflines in low-maintenance uPVC — fascias, soffits and guttering hung with correct falls — choosing profiles that suit the age of the house rather than fight it. Along the tree-lined streets of Dringhouses and Bishopthorpe, where autumn fills gutters fast, we size downpipes and fit guards accordingly.

Roofline & Guttering in York: local factors
Boards and gutters get noticed last, usually when paint is flaking and the timber behind it has gone soft. Renewal itself is straightforward. The question worth asking first is about the street: inside a conservation area, City of York Council can say whether changing the material or colour of a roofline on a front elevation needs its agreement.

In York we stripped a hipped roof whose original plain tiles were badly spalled and re-covered it in Russell Bute 3 — an interlocking concrete tile made to look like traditional small plain tiles — over new breathable membrane and treated battens, finished with a dry hip and dry ridge system and a dry valley, so there is no mortar on the roofline to crack or wash out.
