Lead Work & Flashing in Market Weighton
Lead remains the right answer for valleys, bay-window roofs and flashings on Market Weighton's older brick-and-pantile homes, provided it is worked to code with correct thicknesses and joint details. We carry out traditional leadwork throughout the town and its Wolds villages — Goodmanham, Sancton and Shiptonthorpe among them — replacing cracked or thinning lead that has started letting water past. Detailed properly, new leadwork will comfortably outlast the roof coverings around it.

Lead Work in Market Weighton: local factors
Lead on an older house has usually been renewed more than once already, and it fails where one sheet is asked to do too much: a long apron or a valley run without an expansion joint splits as it moves through the seasons. Bays are cut to the lengths good practice allows, and the correct code of lead is used for the position.
What's included in our lead work service
- Lead flashing to chimneys, abutments and parapet walls
- Lead-lined valleys between roof slopes
- Bay roof and porch lead coverings
- Replacing cracked, split or stolen lead
- Code-correct lead sizing and dressing to last
- Lead-lined box, parapet and timber gutters, laid in bays with laps and drips for thermal movement
- Lead hopper heads and downpipes on listed and period buildings, including like-for-like replacement of stolen lead
Lead flashing and valley work commonly ranges £350–£1,500 depending on length, access and detail. Free fixed quote. See our full price guide.
In September 2026 we renewed the large flat roof on a dormer bungalow in Market Weighton (YO43) with a new torch-on felt system, with additional joist work beneath it, and finished the job with new Freefoam uPVC fascias, soffits and guttering. We fit Freefoam roofline as an approved installer, so it carries the manufacturer’s product guarantee on top of our own workmanship guarantee.
