Roof Cleaning & Moss Removal in Pocklington
Sitting under the western edge of the Wolds, Pocklington's roofs collect moss quickly on shaded, north-facing pitches — particularly older pantile roofs near the town centre and tree-lined properties out towards Allerthorpe. Left alone it holds moisture against the tiles and blocks the gutters every autumn. We scrape roofs clean by hand, apply a biocide treatment to slow regrowth and clear the gutters before we leave — a straightforward way to add years to a YO42 roof without replacing anything.

Moss Removal & Cleaning in Pocklington: local factors
On the town's older slate, hand-scraping rather than a jet wash is not a preference but a necessity: slates are thin and hung on nails, and pressure drives water up under the courses and out onto the ceiling. Concrete tiles are scraped by hand too, then given a biocide treatment so the regrowth is slower to return. Cleaning will not restore a faded tile, though.

A dry verge along the gable of a detached home in Pocklington (YO42) had lifted and come away in the wind. We stripped back the loose sections and refitted the verge mechanically — properly clipped and secured — so the edge is watertight again and will hold through the next storm.
