Roof Cleaning & Moss Removal in Hull
Mature street trees make the Avenues one of Hull's greenest neighbourhoods, and one of its mossiest, since shaded, north-facing slopes hold moisture for months. We scrape moss carefully by hand rather than jet-washing, which can strip tile surfaces, then apply a biocide treatment to slow regrowth and clear the gutters of what has come down. Homes in Newland, Sutton and leafier corners of Kingswood benefit just as much, with lighter, freer-draining roofs afterwards.

Moss Removal & Cleaning in Hull: local factors
Aspect does more than age: a slope that gets no winter sun holds damp for months and gives moss a foothold, whatever it is covered with. Shallower pitches hold it longer than steep ones. Removing it means scraping by hand and applying a biocide afterwards to hold off fresh growth; a jet wash is avoided since it forces water beneath the laps and wears away the surface of the roofing units.

A chimney on a home in Hull had weathered past the point of repair, so we rebuilt it from the flashing up — new brickwork and oversailing courses, fresh flaunching, and a new pot and cowl — then re-leaded it throughout with new code-lead soakers, apron and flashings. Straight, watertight and built to outlast the roof around it.
When to call us in Hull
- Visible green moss growth across the tiles
- Gutters overflowing or full of moss and debris
